Crusader kings ii12/4/2023 Not sure if it's a wide spread problem or just on a few systems but it's a shame considering the price I paid for CK2. It worked fine for the first day but then I started getting constant CTD's. I have a save on the new version that I can't play either. exe have problems, what does it depend on that Paradox isn't telling us about? I really want to get back to an ironman save I've been playing up to two days ago, but if I can only play an older version of the game I can't resume the save. Originally posted by TheDrill:I rolled back to 2.0.4 and the launcher runs, the ugly old launcher. I reinstalled Steam, I reinstalled CK2 several times, I deleted all directores for this game before reinstalling, I do all the updates the instructions given, and still no luck. I uninstalled this game to reinstall it on a better hard drive, and that's where this problem started. This game was working before, but my hard drive was dying so I had to back everything up by moving it all to a different hard drive. exe files that either say they installed or say they can't, I still can't get this game to even open. exe one by one from Microsoft site would work, but after TWENTY. I notice in the directory there is no CK2.exe, just CK2game.exe, but half the instructions for troubleshooting talk about a CK2.exe. Instead I get the error dialog that says 'CK2 has stopped working'. I have a worse problem, I can't even get the launcher to show. Or if anyone may know what else is going on, why I can play my mods but not the main game, I'd love to understand that. If anyone could help with a link that works for the final step, and directions on exactly what to do, I'll give that a try. NET updates/patches it wants to, for all. I searched for a windows update site on google, and the first several links lead to broken pages, and I don't understand how to "apply all. I've followed that list through twice, with no results, except for the final statement "visit the Windows Update site and allow it to apply all. Then: visit the Windows Update site and allow it to apply all. If that doesn't help, please try installing: "Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crusader kings ii\DX\ and run dxsetup.exe I've verified game cache, restarted the computer, and went through this popular list: It's only the main game that won't start. I'll also note that I have 2 mods, the GOT mod and EK mod, and both of those run quite fine. I then click "play" and the screen flashes black for a moment as if it's about to start loading, than it flashes back to my desktop, and nothing happens. So when I click to play Crusader Kings 2 from steam, or from the Crusader Kings 2 folder with steam closed, the launcher that shows the dlc and mods starts correctly. I've searched around a lot for a solution to the problem I'm experiencing, and I see people have some similar experiences, but they often get error messages. I'm copying this from the paradox forums so I have a better chance at getting support as I've seen posts on the steam forums that helped some people out.
